How Obama crossed the line.

This is idiotic.

Then refute.

I refute that Obama wanted to call Sarah Palin a pig. Anyone who believes that is a moron.

I already refuted this point.

“I don’t know Obama’s intentions.”

As a matter of fact, I’ll up the ante—prove YOUR point. Find evidence that Obama didn’t mean to call her a pig. I stayed neutral for a reason. One can’t prove either way. My point was that his intentions don’t matter at all.

Taking this to Fight Club. Wow, this sure comes in handy!

Ok, since you want to argue for the sake of arguement, I am very happy I have this little Tumblr to engage you for as long as you like.

I am completely confused by your query.

You are neutral. I am not.

I, with my crazy wacky common sense, somehow am taking a huge mental leap here and putting myself out on a gigantic limb to say a presidential candidate did not intentionally mean to call someone he is running against a PIG.

I’m nuts, right?

Soup,

The real problem is, women are not respected unless they act like a man. This can also be applied to race (act white, and we’ll respect you!). And I think that’s bullshit.

I disagree a little bit on this point. If you are talking in generalizations sure, okay, I can see where you are coming from. However if a person is raised with proper morals & ethics there should be no issues. I am sure someone will read this and say, “here’s Tom just trying to get in the good graces(i.e. the pants) of some by taking the moral high ground”. If you think that, so be it. I can’t spend my days trying to change cynical minds.

Anyway, I was raised to respect everyone. I won’t lie and say that my folks did not carry any biases, my Dad watched the Bronx change, & not for the better, after his childhood & my mom grew up in South Boston (enough said). So where my ‘rents were lacking in understanding my older sister stepped in. The other kids families who I played soccer with from middle school on through H.S., where I was one of only a couple of white kids on the team, opened my eyes after 7 years of private school in NY. I had it instilled in me to accept, embrace, & learn about others who were different than me rather than reject. It’s one thing to say it & of course much more significant to practice it. For me it comes easy & I hope I lead by example. Shit I would be a failure as a man if my future kids end up being any less tolerant than myself.

In my eyes, & many people I know as well, everyone is equal until your actions prove that you are not. By that I mean you show yourself to be ignorant towards others & in turn not deserving of my being courteous or respectful. I certainly had it ingrained in me from a young age to always respect women. As a kid if I failed to do this I learned the hard way. The painful way. Now as an adult I am pretty proud that those traits have carried over to my professional career as well as my personal life.

I like people to be who they really are & not who they feel they have to pretend to be.

By the way, I will be opening this tumblr up to anyone who wants to use it in lieu of getting 40 pages of debate cluttering their own pages.

Send an email to anontumblr@gmail.com if you want to post your own Tumblr Fights here.

I disagree. You don’t have to act like a man to be respected. In fact, you probrobly should avoid that altogether. Be yourself. My entire beef here was that the sexism card is often overplayed, especially in this election.

The idea of feminism creates more seperation between the sexes. Isn’t the goal to create equality?

How has feminism created more inequality?

Personally, I like voting, having the right to own a home, getting the same education as men, not getting sexually harassed, being able to sleep with guys without being victimized by a double standard, getting equal pay for equal work, and having the same career opportunities as my peers. Feminists and feminist thought helped create that reality, and most feminists who deserve the title champion men’s rights as well.

I could buy that feminism alienates some men. But how has it actually separated men and women, or furthered inequality? Could you explain why you feel that way?

For all the reasons you mentioned, feminism has been a positive movement in society.

I support it 100%, I want equal rights for women. I simply find that often times feminists are always looking at sexism in nearly everything, even when it isn’t there.

I’ll be totally honest with you, I follow your tumblr  and I often groan at how almost everything has to be seen through that lens. Our total being shouldn’t be based through the prism of our gender.
